Thiruvananthapuram: More than 32 percent votes were polled in the ongoing assembly elections in Kerala till 11 a.m. today.

Voters turned out in large numbers from early morning to cast their votes raising the hopes of both the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the Opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) leaders. Long queues were visible at a large number of polling booths across the State from early morning. In some places, the queues had formed as early 5.30 a.m. The polling began at 7 a.m. and would conclude at 5 p.m.

The voter turnout was the highest at 35.5 percent in Kannur and lowest in Thiruvananthapuram were only 28.3 per cent of the voters cast their votes till 11. am.

The Election Commission put the voting percentages various districts at 11 a.m. as follows: Kasaragod: 34.7, Kannur: 35.5 Wayanad: 34.9, Kozhikode: 32.8, Malappuram: 31.6, Palakkad: 33.7, Thrissur: 32.5, Ernakulam: 34.1, Idukki: 30.7, Kottayam: 32.5, Alappuzha: 33.7, Pathanamthitta: 29.2, Kollam: 30.6 and Thiruvananthapuram: 28.3.
