New Delhi: All the 11 legislatures of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) resigned yesterday in shame over cross voting in the recently concluded Legislative Council Elections in Jammu  and Kashmir. Seven BJP legislators voted in favour of the Congress-National Conference alliance, which won five out of six seats.

Taking moral responsibility, they have informed O.P. Kohli, general secretary in charge of the party affairs in the state, and General Secretary J.P Nadha about their resignations and are awaiting for the party’s decision.

In a statement issued last night, Jugal Kishor Sharma, deputy leader of the BJP Legislative Party, stated, ” We have resigned and submitted our resignation letters to party high command tonight to either conduct a probe or decide our fate.”

Further, he admitted that it was the “biggest embarassment” and a “black spot” on the BJP.

They have authorised the party central leadership to decide their fate.

As chief whip of the party, Ashok Khajuria alleged that the seven MLAs sold themselves for monetary or other considerations.
