New Delhi: Kuldeep Bhattacharya, a second year MA student from the MMAJ-Academy of International Studies of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) participated at a two-day Conference organized by the Royal Commonwealth Society in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia which discussed means of combating terrorism and promoting international peace and cooperation.
Representatives from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Brunei, Malaysia and Singapore apart from India attended the ‘Commonwealth Youth Dialogue Conference: Youth Summit on International Peace and Security and Building Community Resilience from the Ground Up’ from 2 to 5 April 2019.
The event also had the theme of building community resilience. There were sessions to understand youth diplomacy, terrorism, non-violent communication, social media campaigns etc.
There was also a model commonwealth session in which participants acted as the heads of Government from randomly chosen countries and held the commonwealth conference. The event allowed participants to interact with South Asian and South East Asian youths and understand prevailing issues in the countries of the region.
