Mumbai: On the second day of the tragic incidents of Wall Collapsed in Mumbai, death toll rises to 27 and left 87 injured. Rescue work is still going on and many are feared to be trapped under the debris till the morning of Wednesday, informed Hasib Bhatkar, Mumbai President of Jamaat e Islami Hind, who joined the rescue work since Tuesday.

20 People have reportedly been killed and many were found injured after a wall collapsed on Monday night due to heavy rain in Ambedkar Nagar, Malad East, a Mumbai suburb. The city has received nearly 1000 mm of rain in the last 3 days, second highest in the last 45 years since July 2005.

Mumbai is now trying to limp back to normalcy but the hutments are grieving the deaths of their relatives. Some are running after their injured kin, who have been admitted in the Bhagwati Hospital, said, Hasib.

However, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra has announced the Rs.5 Lacs compensation for the immediate kin who have died but people have lost everything they had. “We are providing them immediate relief like food, water and other essentials. We have also provided them immediate cash relief for daily work” Said Hasib Bhatkar.

Jamaat has started the survey and some of our workers are visiting Bhagwati Hospital to help the injured and their relatives. We are coordinating with the locals and other NGOs who are working, also getting the list of Panchnamas by the local police to reach their families.

Anyone who wants to contribute in the relief work can contact Mr Azmat on his Mobile No. 9920602418.

He said, “We have asked our volunteers to be ready to help people all over Mumbai and issued the helpline numbers.” He urged the Mumbaikars to come forward and help each other in this misery.
