New Delhi: The ripple effects of anti-Muslim pogrom in North-East Delhi is being felt in South Delhi’s posh Chiragh Dilli area. It is reported that one Manipuri Pangal Muslim student namely Mohammad Riyaj Khan has received death threats from a message that scribbled on the walls of his one-room rented accommodation.

In the outer wall of his room, it was written by an unknown person as: “Nepali Boy. The End. I kill you. Today is your last day.”

It is reported to the Delhi Police so far. The police administration needs to take serious steps for stopping such hatemongering and racial threats.

Riyaj Khan is currently pursuing BA Programme (1st Year) in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Evening College, Sheikh Sarai Phase-II, (Triveni). He is the son of Mohammad Badru Jaman from Sora, Kakching in Manipur.

There is a widespread feeling of a panic situation, anxiety and fear among the people of Delhi including who came from different parts of India particularly from the North East regions of India for studying in different colleges and universities in Delhi.

The unfortunate incident of anti-Muslim communal pogrom happening in the metropolitan city of north east Delhi which was started on 23 February triggered by the hate speech of extremist right wing BJP leaders particularly from Kapil Mishra against the peaceful protest of anti-Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 by minority Muslims in North East Delhi’s Jafarabad area. Despite several emergency calls, police did not help out the Muslims and didn’t even try to use force to dispel the rioters who were hell bent on killing the Muslims.
