55 Candidates with Muslim Names in UPSC Final List, Check the List

New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) announced the results of the Civil Services Examination 2025 on Friday, March 6, 2026. Anuj Agnihotri secured the top rank, followed by Rajeshwari Suve M in second place and Akansh Dhull in third.

A total of 958 candidates have been recommended for appointment to India’s top civil services, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and Indian Police Service (IPS).

Among the selected candidates, 317 are from the General category, 104 from the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), 306 from Other Backward Classes (OBC), 158 from Scheduled Castes (SC), and 73 from Scheduled Tribes (ST).

According to an independent count by BeyondHeadlines, 54 candidates with identifiable Muslim names appear in the final list. However, it is important to note that the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) does not release data on candidates’ religious affiliations. The count is therefore based solely on name-based identification, which may not be fully accurate.

It is also possible that some names may have been missed, as it can be difficult to determine a candidate’s religion from their name alone. For example, two successful candidates this year are named Sahil, but the name “Sahil” by itself does not indicate a person’s religious background.
