Djokovic Wins His First Wimbledon Title

An inspired Djokovic outplayed Rafael Nadal to win the Wimbledon title with an emphatic win 6-4, 6-1, 1-6, 6-3 victory in the Men’s singles final.

Djokovic who was already guaranteed no.1 ranking extended his winning streak against Nadal 5-0 in 2011.Though it was his sole victory in the Grand Slam against Nadal.His overall 2011 record stretches to 48-1.

In the Battle of the top two seeds, a match that lasted for two and a half hours saw Novak dominate Nadal in the game. He is the first Serbian to win the Wimbledon Championship.

Djokovic played flawless game in the first two sets not allowing the Spaniard to break his serve. The first set went with serve until Djokovic pounced in the 10th game to break Nadal.

Nadal made two uncharacteristic errors to hand the Serbian a set point and his wide forehand gave Novak his first set.

Serb played an amazing game to romp through the second set in 33 minutes and take the complete control of the match.
He broke Nadal to open up a 5-1 lead and served out to love to move two sets ahead.

Nadal, twice Wimbledon Champion rallied back in the third set with some strong baseline play.Djokovic’s game dipped and Nadal took the advantage of Serb’s rare error to take a firm grip and breezed through the third set.

The momentum of the match had completely changed and Nadal created an early break point in the fourth set that Djokovic saved.
The Serbian immediately went on the attacking mode and broke Nadal in the next game. Nadal made a comeback but Djokovic refused to buckle, he broke Spaniard’s serve again in the eight game.

With a championship point in sight Nadal sent a backhand long out of the court, Djokovic dropped to the turf and celebrated his win.

He threw off his racquets in the crowd.

Amidst the crowd, Serbian President Boris Tadic was also present in the Royal Box clapping and roaring on his win.

This is Novak’s maiden Wimbledon title and his third Grand Slam.
