Senior Counsel Mahmood Pracha Receives Threat Calls, SMS

Senior lawyer Mahmood Pracha, who is defending German bakery bomb blast case convict Mirza Himayat Beg for his innocence, has been receiving threat calls from international telephone numbers.

Mr. Pracha has received death threats in last few days through calls and SMSes from international numbers, revealed Maulana Siddiqui in a press conference organized by Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind (JUeH).

There were almost 25 calls from different numbers at his mobile phone, but Mr. Pracha didn’t respond to any of them, said Maulana Siddiqui.

Continuous calls came to Pracha when he was communicating to the innocent Muslim accused after being free from the activities in the special court of Arthur Road Jail.

When he did not respond to calls, he received an SMS in which he was threatened to death as well as warned not to come to Mumbai again.

Advocate Tahavvur Rana said threats have been coming to him, but we won’t let him be like Shahid Aazmi Sahab. “We will demand the government to protect him,” he added.

Recently National Investigation Agency (NIA) gave clean chit to Germany bakery blast case accused Himayat Beg, and the bail plea is expected to be filed in the court for letting him free.

Himayat Be is likely to be proved innocent and MCOCA would be removed. Threat calls to Beg’s defense lawyer started after Beg got clean chit from NIA and advocate is planning to file bail plea.
