Gilani, Shabbir continue to remain under house arrest

Srinagar (KMS): All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) has expressed serious concern over the miserable plight of illegally detained Kashmiris languishing in different jails of the territory and India.

The APHC spokesman in a statement in Srinagar deplored that Kashmiri Hurriyet leaders and activists were not being provided with basic facilities including food and medical care. He urged the Amnesty International, Asia Watch and other human rights organisations to send a representative delegation to take stock of the condition of Kashmiri prisoners in jails. The spokesman strongly denounced the slapping of draconian law Public Safety Act for the third time against the illegally detained President of High Court Bar Association of the occupied territory, Mian Abdul Qayoom.

The occupation authorities continued to place veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader Syed Ali Gilani and senior APHC leader Shabbir Ahmed Shah under house arrest.

People took to streets at Palpora in Budgam against the arrest of a 60-year-old civilian. Raising full-throated anti-India and pro-liberation slogans, the protesters demanded his immediate release.

Indian police arrested the brother of APHC leader, Yasmeen Raja when he went to a police station in Srinagar to meet her. The police also took into custody a youth from Singhpora area of Pattan.

The puppet authorities booked a government employee of Damapora Soibugh area of Budgam under the draconian Public Safety Act for taking part in pro-freedom demonstrations in the territory.
