Jangpura Mosque: DDA Offers Alternative Plot

New Delhi: The “illegal” mosque in Jangpura that was demolished by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) might be relocated.

In an interesting twist today, the DDA informed the Delhi High Court that it was ready to provide alternative plot for the reconstruction of the demolished Noor Masjid. Noor Charitable Society and DDA, the concerned parties, informed the court that they were in the final stage of finding a solution.

After the mosque, which was situated near Nizamuddin, was demolished on January 12, Muslims in the locality, led by Shahi Imam of the Jama Masjid had registered strong protest. In fact, Imam Bukhari had led the Friday prayer on the debris to register his protest.

The next hearing for the case would be on May 16.
