Javadekar Says Assam Wants Change of Govt

BeyondHeadlines Special Correspondent

Guwahati: BJP yesterday claimed that Assam is poised for a change of guard after the ensuing Assembly elections in the state as the current trend across the country is to vote out corrupt and non-performing governments.

“Assam is poised for a change of guards. The ruling Congress is daydreaming about getting a mandate even after ten years of misrule, corruption and non-governance”, BJP national spokesman Prakash Javadekar told journalists here.

“People are not fools. The all-India trend is very clear as people are voting for performance and governance while voting out corrupt and non-performing governments,” he said.

Claiming that unemployment problem was at its worst in Assam with 23 lakh people without a job, the BJP leader alleged the state is on top of the list on three counts – corruption, bad law and order and price rise.

“In the last ten years more than 12000 civilians were killed by militants while there were cases of 8000 kidnappings and 5000 extortions,” he said.

“Development is rapidly taking place in BJP-ruled states of Gujarat, Bihar, Chattisgarh and Uttarakhand. We are offering a party of governance to the people of Assam, ” Javadekar said.
