UMF to Organise Seminar on Political Challenges Before Muslim Community

Ranchi: The United Milli Forum (UMF), Jharkhand, is organizing a cadre convention and a seminar on “Political Challenges Before Muslims in a Plural- Democratic India” on March 12-13.

Talking to the media here at a press conference, UMF State Convener Dr Hasan Raza said: “The objectives of the programs are many fold. The cadre convention is aimed at adopting the constitution of the forum and deliberate the issues of the work UMF is involved in. The seminar is being organized to understand the political challenges before the Muslim community and perspectives of other groups and parties.”

Shedding light on the objectives of the UMF, he said: “At UMF, we believe that the question of political empowerment of Muslims in India is not communal but a question of democracy. Hence, we have not only invited Muslims but also all those who believe and work for political empowerment of marginalized communities.”

The United Milli Forum (UMF) is working since 2004 in the state of Jharkhand, for the Political empowerment of Muslims in particular and other marginalized groups in general. In last six years, UMF has played a major role in the redefining the politics of marginalized groups especially Muslims and has actively taken part in different elections as a people’s initiative. It has also organized various Conventions, Seminars, Symposias, Workshops, Dharnas and Rallies in different parts of the state to achieve the mission of UMF—Justice for All.
