New Delhi: The Delhi government, which is under attack from the opposition, today analyzed the situation arising out of the CAG report on irregularities in CWG projects undertaken by it and decided to give a strong reply to the allegations.
The Cabinet meeting, chaired by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, discussed the CAG report in detail and decided to put its views strongly, sources said. The government has already prepared its preliminary reply to the irregularities mentioned by the CAG.
After the hour-long meeting, Delhi Chief Minister Dikshit refused to comment about the uproar in Parliament demanding her resignation this morning leading to its adjournment. “On whatever is happening in Parliament I will not comment on that,” she told reporters. Asked about growing demands for her resignation, she said, “Let them demand.”
Earlier in the morning, Dikshit held a meeting with her advisers, close associates and top officials to decide the “line of defence”.
The government has already directed concerned agencies to prepare detailed replies to all the allegations made by the auditor.
Although the departments and agencies had filed their responses following the Shunglu committee report, now the government has directed them to submit elaborate reports including explanation on grounds for taking decisions which have been questioned by the CAG.
