New Delhi. Congress may be in power for second consecutive term now but when it comes to collecting Funds, BJP takes a clear lead.

The Documents received by BeyondHeadlines through RTI shows that from 2003 to 20010 BJP collected more funds as donation then Congress. Only in 2005-06 and 2006-07 Congress was able to receive more donations than BJP.

Interestingly, Congress which received around 85 crores in 2009-10 received only 8 crores in 2010-11. Also in 2011 most of the donors to congress were its own members including MLA’s, MPs and Ministers.

After political uproar on controversial funding like from Baba Ramdev and Dow Chemicals, the BJP, which till 2010 has submitted its funding details to ECI, did not gave it in year 2011. This suggests that BJP has a lot to keep secret regarding its funding.

Here is a look at Funds received By BJP and Congress from 2003 to 2011.

Financial Year Indian National Congress Bhartiya Janata Party
2010-11 8,04,49,284  NIL
