Mohali (Punjab):  Abdul Wahab Umar (22), a student at Swami Paramanand Engineering College, Mohali has been allegedly picked up by the Mumbai Police on 1st January 2012. According to available information Mr. Wahhab is son of Mr. Mohd. Umar of Darbhanga District of Bihar. Wahab is the youngest among seven siblings. As per the sources close to Beyond Headlines, the police have not informed anyone close to Wahab. This has created a fear psychosis among his family and friends. If this comes out to be true, this story will be another addition to the number of such incidents where the police have been alleged to have arrested without warrants.

BeyondHeadlines believes in due process of law and appeals to the authorities to respect the law of the land and human rights of our citizens.  To cross-check the facts the BeyondHeadlines team has tried to establish contact with the Mumbai Police and will continue to do the follow up with other concerned authorities. In the meantime our task is to stand by the family of Wahab and appeal for justice.
