Azamgarh. Rahul Gandhi faced protest in Azamgarh over Batla house encounter. Students burnt effigies of Rahul Gandhi and shouted anti Congress slogans.

The students, large in number, were demanding enquiry into Batla house encounter. The alleged encounter by special cell of Delhi Police killed two Azamgarh students living in Batla House of Jamia Nagar and studying in Jamia Millia Islamia.

Reacting to the protests congress leader Digvijay Singh said that he always believed that the Batla House encounter was fake and he had asked PM and Home Minister to order enquiry into the matter but they refused.

Digvijay Singh’s statement is expected to raise further questions over vote bank politics in Uttar Pradesh elections.
