As Indians remember the sad chapter in their history on the 21st anniversary of Babri Mosque demolition (6 December 1992), Muslims feel justice is yet to be delivered.

Justice delayed is justice denied. Muslims have been waiting for the justice to be delivered, and peace established.

Babri Mosque demolition and anti-Muslim riots in the country “deepened the feeling of insecurity among Indian Muslims”, commented British Indian Muslims in a release.

While recalling Babri Mosque demolition, Chairman of Council of Indian Muslims (CoIM) UK, Munaf Zeena said it’s a tragedy that left scar on psyche of Indian Muslims.

“Demolition of Babri Mosque is one of those tragedies that have left deep scars on the psyche of Indian Muslims within and outside India and, sadly, successive governments have been deliberately leaving these scars untreated,” said Zeena.

“Although the Case has been pending with the Supreme Court, the judiciary has not taken a comprehensive view so far. The installation of idols in1948, the title suit, and the demolition of the mosque need to be seen as one single criminal case.

“As if the bitter memories of the demolition of Babri Mosque and a long history of savage anti-Muslim riots in the country were not enough to make the community insecure, Muzaffarnagar riots has further deepened this feeling.”

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) supremo Asaduddin Owaisi earlier said that Muslims were betrayed at every step in the Babri Masjid case.

Justice should be done to ensure peace and law and order in the country, said Hyderabad MP during an address at AIMIM headquarters on the 20th anniversary of Babri Majid demolition.

All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has challenged the September 30th 2010 verdict of the Allahabad High Court, which directed that the disputed land be divided in three parts among Muslims and Hindus.

Commenting on the Allahabad High Court judgment on the Ayodhya title suits, Former Chief Justice of India, A.M. Ahmadi  said he was “taken aback”, and added “I doubt if this can even be called a judgment”.

Now the subject matter is with Supreme Court where there have been over 8 appeals filed. Meanwhile, All India Babri Masjid Committee member Dr. SQR Ilyas criticized Samajwadi-led government for its double standards on the issue.

Mr Zeena also criticized the Akhilesh government’s  complicity in the Muzaffarnagar riots and noted that “Notwithstanding its claims to be Muslim-friendly, UP’s Samajwadi led Government has lost its credibility.”

“The community does not have good opinion of the Congress led central government either. If it is really serious in restoring its lost credibility it should immediately dismiss the UP Government, punish the culprits of Muzaffarnar riots, provide immediate relief  and adequate compensation to victims suffering in wretched conditions in tents and must make sure that the Communal violence Bill is passed before it faces the voters in 2014.”
