Illegal Constructions by Pune City Police, a Security Threat?

BeyondHeadlines Correspondent

Pune police who claim they don’t have funds to construct quarters for lower rank policemen, has given free hand to police stations in charge for doing what they want to do.

Two examples at present include office cabin of Kondhwa police station in charge police inspector and airport police chowky at lohegaon airport.

CISF officials say that on many occasions the police chowky remains abandoned with no policeman present inside.  Now cops are adding some floors from top of which one can easily see aircraft oil refueling unit and other parts of the airport. Both air force and airport authorities claimed that they have not given any permission for the construction work.

Police officials at the headquarters said they have not provided any funds and it is locally arranged by the police station.

Similarly Kondhwa police has spent lakhs of rupees to refurbish cabin of its inspector. The cabin is on par with that commissioner and joint commissioner of police. A police officer said that with illegal activities of foreigners and drug peddlers rampant in Kondhwa, it was not difficult to get sponsor for construction of a lavish office. There is also talk of black magic as the door of the cabin has shifted from its original place.
