Assault on Sanjay Bhansali: fringe today, mainstream tommorrow

Interesting to see many people are expressing ‘outrage’ on social media over physical abuse of film maker Sanjay Leela Bhansali by what they are calling the ‘frigne’ groups.

In last three decades or so you all helped bring the ‘fringe’ Sangh Parivar into mainstream. Have you forgotten the lumpens of Bajrang Dal, VHP, et al?

You made Advani Deputy PM and Padam Vibhushan after Babri masjid demolition, Modi PM despite 2002 riots, you did not mind Baliyan becoming minister barely nine months after his role in the Muzaffarnagar riots. You smirked but did nothing really against Hindu Yuva Vahini of Adityanath.

From Sangeet Som to Sakshi Maharaj, from Kailash Vargiya to Radhamohan Singh, BJP has shown the way to the ‘margins’ on how to progress on political ladder and get instant name and fame.

And my friends you happily facilitated them as you thought India can shine and once again become the global power only under a Hindutva ruler. So least of all you have the right to express ‘outrage’ on such frivolous stories which can prove errands in your grand development narrative. Ignore them, or best find reasons to justify them, like you have done for years.

In Sociology, they say ‘the deviants of today are the Messiah of tomorrow’. In contemporary India, ‘the fringe of today can become the mainstream of tomorrow,’ and if you are lucky and smart enough, well sky is the limit then.
