How Youth and Technology can contribute to Road Safety?

The role of youth is very critical in today’s era as, if the youth of our nation gets oriented in the correct direction, India can progress at an exponential rate. With current calibre and capabilities the youth of our country possess, not only road safety issue but also other major problems can be solved.

Indian Road Safety Campaign (IRSC) and Abhyuday, IIT-Bombay in collaboration with Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) conducted a Panel Discussion on “How Youth and Technology can contribute to Road Safety” on 13th January 2019 at IIT-Bombay.


The event was one among in the series of Mega Events under the iSAFE

Championship: The Safer India Challenge ‘18 which is a 9-month long championship open for all schools and colleges of India.

It was a day-long culmination of activities revolving around Road Safety and aimed at increasing the awareness among the children, the youth and the adults regarding the ever-growing rate of traffic-related deaths.

The initial competition began as an online phase where students from across the country submitted ideas to curb road-accidents. Numerous students submitted extremely bright ideas that were judged by trained road-safety experts. The prizes included goodies from TVS as well as certificates and cash prizes up to Rs. 5000.

The audience was in great awe to learn more about the alarming issue. With experts in the field such as Mr Sahasrabudhe to youth icons such as Nikhil Mumbaikar, the panel and their knowledge kept the youth in the auditorium glued to their seats.
