I am writing this media statement from Delhi as I came here to give support to Jamia Students in their protest on 11.02.2018. I am not in the university campus for the last 3 days.
From the News sources, I came to know that FIR has been registered against 14 students including me. This clearly exposes the agenda of this authoritarian government of frequently using sedition charges against anyone showing dissent against the government.
I totally condemn the charges against students made by private godi media channel and ABVP members. I also condemn the use of arms by some outsiders and ABVP goons on the university campus. This is very painful for me that I am not on the university campus when my beloved mother Institution is going through a deep crisis.
I suggest the Modi government at the centre and yogi government in Uttar Pradesh apply mind before registering an FIR. I completely support my student union for the protest against false FIR and suspension of students who fired the arm in the campus.
The continuous attack to defame the students and educational institution by this government with the help of RSS goons, BJP and ABVP have remained the main priority. Aligarh Muslim University is the main target for these goons.
Slapping a draconian law of sedition against the protesting students on the basis of baseless allegations show their intentions of curbing student voices in the University. I request Mr Modi to kindly give tuition classes to Aligarh BJP workers, so that next time they do homework before filling FIR for sedition charges, otherwise you will get exposed like always.
The series of attack on our university before every election is the testimony of their cheap politics. The entry of private media channel and doing coverage without having the permission of university administration and using the derogatory comment for the university and students, shouting and fighting with students raises severe questions. The complete incident proves that they entered the university campus to spoil the educational environment of varsity. The complete inaction of Aligarh administration and their failure to catch the goons who fired with arms in the campus and disturbed the academic atmosphere of the university proves that this authoritarian government wants to start their Loksabha campaign by creating controversy in AMU campus.
