Jamia Faculty Awarded the Prestigious 2019 Asian Studies Visiting Fellowship in Washington D.C.

New Delhi: Dr Sujata Ashwarya, Associate Professor in the Centre for West Asian Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, has been awarded the prestigious 2019 Asian Studies Visiting Fellowship at the East-West Centre, Washington D.C. (EWCW), to pursue research on India’s energy security.

Her period of residency in Washington D.C., which is July through September 2019, includes the responsibility to publish an article in the EWCW Asia Pacific Bulletin series, a public seminar on her topic of research, and submission of a policy paper for the East-West Centre’s Policy Studies series.

Dr Sujata Ashwarya received her M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in West Asian Studies from JNU, New Delhi. She has been awarded many fellowships at foreign universities/institutions. Her research interests include the politics of energy, India’s West Asia policy, politics and foreign policy of Iran and Israel and issues relating to democratization in the region. She has presented more than 50 research papers in national and international conferences and seminars. She has more than 30 published research articles and has written, edited and co-edited 5 books.
