New Delhi: With the beginning of the new academic session in Jamia Millia Islamia various departments are organising the orientation programmes for new entrants.
Centre for Management Studies(CMS), JMI conducted an orientation programme for the new students of MBA (full time) yesterday at which Vice-Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar welcomed the freshers they are fortunate to be selected among thousands of aspirants.
She told them that they should feel proud of joining JMI which is a leading university with its ranking continuously getting improved both nationally and internationally.
Apart from Prof. Akhtar others who addressed the freshers included Prof. Amirul H. Ansari, Director of the CMS, Prof. Abad Ahmad, Academic Advisor of the CMS and former PVC of DU and Prof. Furqan Qamar and Mr Abhishek Mittal, Transaction Manager of Earnst &Young.
Prof. Qamar is currently the senior-most professor and is also former VC of Central University of Himachal Pradesh & Rajasthan University and former Secretary General of Association of Indian Universities(AIU).
The Department of Social Work is also having a ten-day orientation programme from August 1 for the courses offered by the Department. These courses are M. A. (Social Work), M. A. (Human Resource Management) and Advance Diploma in Public Health (ADPH) coordinated by Dr Ashvini Kumr Singh, Dr Asiya Nasreen and Dr Lalhmingmawii Gangte respectively.
The orientation programmes began with the introductory session by Head of the Department, Prof Ushvinder Kaur Popli.
The new entrants are being familiarised with the knitty-gritty of the teaching pedagogy, academic expectations and other curricular and co-curricular aspects of each of the course.
