Jamia VC visits US universities, explores collaboration in research and academic activities

New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar during her recent visit to the USA explored possibilities of collaborative research and exchange of teachers and students with the University of California- Berkeley, University of California -Davis and Sacramento State University.  These institutions are government-funded public universities.

During her meeting with senior professors and officials of the universities, she informed them about JMI’s academic and research activities and mooted the idea of having exchange programmes.

The Vice-Chancellor invited the head of the universities along with their professors to visit JMI to discuss the possibilities of having collaboration through the exchange of senior teachers and students as well as other joint academic and research activities.

There is a possibility that delegations from these universities may visit JMI next year when the university will be celebrating its 100th year.

During her week-long stay in the USA, she also met officials of some government departments including Department of Employment Development, California.

Prof. Akhtar, who has since returned, met with the Hon’ble Chancellor of JMI Dr. Najma Heptullah, who is also the Governor of Manipur, and briefed her about the visit. They also discussed several other matters relating to the university.
