New Delhi: Amitabh Sen, an alumnus of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) started a solo journey on a motorbike from Delhi to Kanyakumari to spread JMI’s message of unity and brotherhood under the banner of ‘Ek Desh Ek Raah’ yesterday.

Prof. Najma Akhtar, Vice-Chancellor, JMI flagged off Amitabh’s journey from the university in the presence of staff and alumni. Wishing Amitabh for his mission, the Vice-Chancellor said that it is a matter of pride for the university that one of its alumni has embarked on for such a noble mission.

Amitabh will cover a distance of nearly 6,500 Kms from Delhi to Kanyakumari highlighting the country’s Ganga-Jamuni tahzeeb (culture).

Amitabh has undertaken the mission inspired by close sympathizers of JMI, Mirza Faridul Hasan Beg who himself was motivated by the ideology of universal brotherhood of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Zakir Husain.
