Is Ghulam Nabi Azad Destined as BJP Candidate in Next Election for President of India?

Emergency goon and Hindutva extremist Sanjay Gandhi’s muscleman Ghulam Nabi Azad has come a long way in Indian politics. From forced sterilizations to slum demolitions at Turkman Gate in Delhi, along with Sanjay Gandhi’s eye candy – Rukhsana Sultana, Ghulam Nabi Azad has allegedly been a comrade in arms of Sanjay Gandhi. After Sanjay perished in the air, Azad switched his style of functioning to present a mild picture of himself by organizing a blood donation camp here or a tree plantation drive there to enter the good books of the chocolate-faced Rajiv Gandhi, another Hindutva extremist, who facilitated the Ayodhya Shilanyas by unlocking the Babri Masjid. Both the extremists Sanjay and Rajiv held extreme views and hated Muslims, which was evident from the steps taken by them against the Indian Muslims. It is not an accusation but hard truth etched in stone and recorded by many eminent people. A case in point is recorded in an article written by former Delhi Development Authority (DDA) vice-chairman M N Buch on 6th October 2002.  M N Buch wrote: ‘‘We had constructed shops in the Meena Bazaar area of Jama Masjid and the Payenwala area of Dariba in Delhi to rehabilitate the shopkeepers uprooted from there during the Emergency. The majority of them were Muslims. Sanjay told me that we were making a mistake because the removal of the shopkeepers during the Emergency had eradicated a potential nest of Pakistani supporters. I was horrified to hear this from the mouth of Jawaharlal Nehru’s grandson.’’ Is there any difference between Sanjay Gandhi and Giriraj Singh, who dreams of Pakistan day and night?

Ghulam Nabi Azad’s hands seem to be soaked in the blood of Muslims from Sanjay’s to Rahul’s time. He almost silently watched the gunning down of innocent Muslims who were protesting against the demolition of their homes at Turkman Gate and similarly silently watched the targeting of the innocent civilian Kashmiris from the time of the then Governor Jagmohan Malhotra to the present time. As the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Azad did not even rehabilitate the poor Kashmiri Pandits who were driven away from their rightful homes by Pakistan-backed terrorists in the Kashmir valley.

Perhaps, the only time Ghulam Nabi Azad raised a potent protest was during his speech in the Lok Sabha at the time of severing of Jammu and Kashmir as a state of India. The Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS) agents Narendra Modi and Amit Shah carried out the agenda in the capacity of the Prime Minister and the Home Minister and by virtue of BJP’s sheer majority in the Lok Sabha. Azad appeared to back Kashmir once, though after losing it! He is not only a traitor to the Kashmiri cause but also a traitor to the Indian Muslim cause. As a national general secretary of the Congress, Azad was responsible for the under-representation of Muslims in the Lok Sabha and the Legislative Assemblies of states, particularly of those states he was in-incharge. Many Muslim names were cut off from the Congress lists of candidates allegedly at his insistence. This was particularly noticed in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh.

Narendra Modi’s ‘tearful farewell’ to Ghulam Nabi Azad was a well-enacted drama. It was to project Azad as the BJP’s candidate in the next elections for the post of the President of India. Those in the corridors of power know that Ghulam Nabi Azad is a stooge of the Sangh Parivar, who along with late Pranab Mukherjee and Digvijay Singh, have allegedly been reporting to Narendra Modi and Nagpur, about all the closed-door meetings of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) and the Congress candidates lists in Lok Sabha elections. A senior BJP leader who preferred anonymity, chuckled about Azad’s candidacy from the BJP for President of India:  Azad to hamara aadmi hai. Saheb utho bole to uthhta, baitho bole to baithta (Azad is our man. If Saheb (Modi) tells him to stand up, he will stand up and if he tells him to sit down, he will sit down).

Is he an Azad or is he a Ghulam?
