Chandra (babu) once became Surya—a raging ball of fire. In April 2019, Chandrababu Naidu, the Telugu Desam chief, addressing a rally, described the once 56-inch chest owner Narendra Modi as a “hard-core terrorist!” The 2024 Lok Sabha elections made Modi-Naidu strange bedfellows again. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) crashed to a humiliating defeat after Modi tried to transcend his human form and had hallucinations of being divine and not a biological being! The pathetic figure of 240 was engraved on Modi’s dissipating forehead by the masses, who were tired of Modi’s antics. Modi should visit his tailor to get new chest measurements!
Ram Lulla was in a punishing mood. The BJP was buried in the Faizabad (Ayodhya) seat as Ram Lulla kicked out the BJP from the confines of his territory. Falling below the magic 272 majority mark ensured that Narendra Modi will now have to perform Mujra to keep Chandrababu Naidu and Paltu Err… Nitish Kumar in good humor. Who would have imagined that “UP Ke Ladkey”—Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi—would puncture Modi’s 56-inch chest and inflated ego? Modi’s Islamophobic rant that Muslims are “infiltrators” and they will seize the Mangalsutras of Hindu women was summarily rejected by the Indian electorate. Though Muslims do not produce “more children,” Modi has to produce more Members of Parliament to safeguard his depleting stock of MPs.
It is a shameful mockery of democracy that the BJP, a defeated party under Modi, will be forming the government at the Centre. Any self-respecting man would have stepped aside. What is the BJP’s compulsion that they are sticking with a doomed Modi, who led the party to a resounding defeat? What do Nitin Gadkari and Rajnath Singh lack that Modi has in him? The hero worship will lead the BJP to worse doom.
The hunger pangs and the employment of the youth are reflected in the results. This time, the strike is in Modikot! At least 65 trees, some of them tall-standing, fell like new shrubs. Smriti Irani was sent packing as the electorate realized their mistake of sending an “Irani” to the Modi cabinet. This time, the wise folks, who became real nationalists, chose somebody who is our own. Kishori Lal, who defeated Irani, is the son of the soil from Amethi.
Rahul Gandhi has come of age. His Bharat Jodo Yatra has paid rich dividends to the Congress and the INDIA Alliance. Rahul’s stature has grown as he has won both the Rae Bareli and Wayanad seats. Had Priyanka Gandhi contested the elections, the INDIA Alliance would not have fallen short of a majority. The wise decision of the alliance to sit in opposition will enhance their reputation in the eyes of the electorate. Naveen Patnaik should not stray into enemy territory, even by mistake. It is alleged that Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) chief ‘Kommunal’ Chandrasekhar Rao has struck a deal with Modi and allegedly instructed the BRS cadre to transfer their votes to BJP candidates in 8 constituencies to help them win. Kavitha may soon be out of jail and go through the BJP’s washing machine.
Veteran journalist and former legislator Syed Amin Jafri observes that Narendra Modi will have to do a tight rope walk given the blackmailing tendencies of Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar to extract more and more concessions. He feels that Modi is vulnerable and at their mercy in the changed political scenario. There will be a lot of push and pull.
It is only a matter of time before ‘Things Fall Apart’ and the Modi government evaporate in thin air.
