Egyptians witnessed removal of thier first democractically elected President Mohamed Morsi with the Military intervention, leading to chaos and unrest among locals, and protests by pro-democracy people across the world.

Egypt Solidarity Forum (ESF) expresses its grave concern over declaration to Egypt’s elected civilian president who was given full mandate by the people in a free and fair election.

Pro-Democracy People Demands Reinstation of MursiWhile condemning the declaration as ‘military coup’ at the behest of anti-revolution forces of Mubarak era, ESF considers that the settlement of the crisis should have been only through respecting the legitimacy of the elected president and by forming a national unity government for which Mr. Morsi had already offered.

“But his offer for the same was ignored by the military establishment to execute preplanned coup. Those who fought hard for democracy and took part in the election, regardless of their choices, are feeling betrayed by this military coup,” ESF noted.

ESF was the first to support anti-Mubarak protests in India, and now it fully supports Egyptian people’s struggle to restore the deposed President Mohamed Morsi immediately.

The forum also condemns massacre of 45 peaceful protesters by Egyptian army in Cairo and arbitrary arrest and torture of many protesters.

In addition, ESF expressed serious doubts over the role of Tamarrod movement in the current develpoments in Egypt.

“It is unfortunate that the political leadership and political parties of Egypt have miserably failed to engage with the democratic process and allowed themselves to be hoodwinked by an undemocratic design against an elected leadership under the garb of Tamarrod” ESF noted.

Distancing itself from any political affiliation or support, the forum urges all Egyptians across the parties and groups to not allow military dictatorship return again.

The forum demands from the Military General Abdal Fattah Sisi and the concerned leadership:

1. To cancel his declaration and restore elected president of Egypt immediately.

2. To lift ban from all media organizations shut down after military declaration to ensure freedom of expression.

3. To release all detained leaders of all the political parties and stop arbitrary arrest and torture campaign against leaders and activists of Muslim Brotherhood and Freedom and Justice Party.

4. To support broad based national reconciliation dialogue among all the political players of Egypt to find a political and constitutional solution in the light of the mandate given by Egyptian people in the last presidential election.

5. The forum also appeals all Egyptians, liberals, Islamists and others to refrain from violence against each other and to protect Egypt from military dictatorship.

6. The forum appeals international community, including the Arab League, The United Nations and other countries to support civilian government elected by the people of Egypt and not to deal secretly with the military as they have done in the past.

7. The forum expects that Indian government take an independent position on the crisis which brings back legitimacy of their mandate given to the elected President. We demand from Indian government not to recognize this military coup and convey the military leadership that it will deal only with elected leadership of Egypt.

Long Live Egyptian People! Long Live their Struggle to Restore Legitimacy!!
