Can Muslim women play a definitive part in pushing the community on the development course? Do they feel capable and courageous enough to fight the problems facing the Muslim community? What are the challenges they may encounter, if they take up the less traveled road? Do they get enough support from their family and the community? These are a few of the questions that generally pop up in our minds when we think about Muslim women in modern times.
The Muslim community in India is facing numerous challenges, including lack of good education, socio-economic backwardness, lack of effective leadership, etc. In these odd circumstances, I believe the fair-sex has a major role to play. The government too launched a scheme to inculcate leadership quality among minority women in general, but could not execute it properly and yield desired results. I am attempting to find out women who are already making efforts for the upliftment of the Muslim community in their respective capacities. (SM Fasiullah)
