Six Days Skill Testing & Certification Programme for Indian Air Force Personnel at Jamia

New Delhi: Six days Skill Testing & Certification Programme was organized by the Department of Tourism & Hospitality Management in Jamia Millia Islamia. The programme was started on the 24th of December, 2018 and successfully completed on the 2nd of January 2019.

This training programme has been organized as part of capacity building programme by the Department of Tourism & Hospitality Management for the 30 personnel (cooks and mess boys) of Indian Air Force Mess, Zakir Husain road, New Delhi and eight female mess staff of all-women canteen, Dastarkhwan, JMI.

Ms Sudha Chandra was the coordinator for this skill certification programme.

Trained professionals of the department have given the training on personal hygiene and grooming, first aid, attributes of hospitality staff, food service, guest complaint handling, guest services, buffet arrangement, work ethics and effective communication, practical demonstrations on flower arrangements, mocktail and cocktail recipes etc.

Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Languages, Jamia Millia Islamia, Prof. Wahajuddin Alvi was the guest of honour of the valedictory session.  Prof. Alvi interacted with the trainees and highlighted that this training will enable them to execute their jobs more efficiently.

This skill certification has made them learn about the standard operating procedures of food and beverages services and they were able to acquire knowledge on various aspects of the same to upgrade their skills.

The program is sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India as part of the Skill India Mission.
