New Delhi: As the academic session in Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) got into full swing, Vice-chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar has begun a series of interaction with students inviting inputs and suggestions to make teaching-learning efficient in order to make the university a place of high quality education.
The first of the interaction series was held last Tuesday when she met students of different undergraduate and post-graduate courses.
She told the students that she plans to increase the number of seats in many programmes and open new courses of innovative nature. Some courses like MDS at Dental Faculty and B.P.Ed and M.P.Ed, she said, would also be considered soon.
While emphasising on high quality education she said that her intention is to improve the perception of the university to help in increasing employment opportunities for its students.
She said that JMI should be in media for good reasons such as achievements of students both in the fields of education and sports as well as other academic and co-curricular activities.
Describing JMI as a unique and innovative university which is always ready to adopt new methodologies to further improve its teaching, learning and research activities, she said, some of the courses available in JMI are not taught in any other university in the country.
She said that she would try to provide every possible facility to help the students in their academic affairs but at the same time “students must maintain a minimum 75% attendance”.
She also asked senior students to welcome new entrants in a very cordial manner and reminded them that the ragging is strictly prohibited in the campus and strict action would be taken against those indulging in such activities.
