New Delhi: Encouraged by the continuous improvement in the results of Residential Coaching Academy (RCA), JMI, in civil services examinations, its successful alumni are coming forward with new ideas and offer to help the academy in improving its performance further.

Four alumni,  who had made it to the civil services between 2014 to 18 recently, met the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar to discuss ideas and plans to make the teaching and training of civil services aspirants as per today’s requirements and examination pattern.

Those met the Vice-Chancellor were Arif Ahsan (IAS),  Gauhar Hasan (IPS), Faraz Nabi, Indian Postal Service officer and Tanveer Ahmad, Assistant Commandant CISF.

Among the issues discussed were improvement required in teaching and training methods, refurbishing infrastructure, more interaction of aspirants with the successful alumni of the academy to acquaint them with the latest methods being adopted in civil services examination and interviews for selecting candidates.

The focus was more on how to use the alumni capital and its experience in cracking the civil services exam. The officers felt that the academy should get the civil servants, who have passed out from it in recent years, as guest speakers rather than depending on retired civil servants. This, they felt, was necessary as the students will relate themselves more with the young serving officers who will be imparting them training as per the current requirements.

The Vice-Chancellor appreciated the suggestions put forward by the officers and said that she would consider and try to incorporate them for better performance of the academy, run by the Centre for Coaching and Career Planning of the university.
