Shoring Up Desperate BJP Chances in UP, Mohan Bhagwat Meets Mulayam Singh as Politics Makes Strange Sofa Fellows

Political interests can bring together people who otherwise have little in common. The saying – Politics Makes Strange Bedfellows is adapted from a line in the play The Tempest, by William Shakespeare. “Misery acquaints a man with strange bedfellows.” It is spoken by a man who has been shipwrecked and finds himself seeking shelter beside a sleeping monster. The political monsters in question here are the Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat and the Samajwadi Party traitor of secularism Mulayam Singh Yadav, who fathered Akhilesh Yadav. Akhilesh Yadav is fighting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) tooth and nail in the coming elections to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

The two Hindutva agents have been meeting on and off during the past five years under the canopy of the cool Pallu of Aparna Yadav, a daughter-in-law of Mulayam Singh Yadav. The RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and SP ditcher Mulayam Singh Yadav were seen cosying up together on the same sofa at the reception for the wedding reception at the house of Vice President Venkaiah Naidu. There was reportedly a political conversation between the two after the BJP leader Narendra Modi asked Mohan Bhagwat to ‘strike a deal’ with Mulayam to sabotage the Samajwadi Party’s prospects in the coming polls to protect the ‘Hindu Dharma!’. Their meeting may be considered a normal meeting in a marriage reception. However, there is a lot of discussion about this meeting of these divisive personalities once belonging to different ideologies. The nation remembers quite vividly how Mulayam Singh Yadav sold his soul on the floor of the Lok Sabha and wished that the Narendra Modi government return to power in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

The above picture has been tweeted by Union Minister Arjun Meghwal who quipped: Today is his (Mulayam’s) birthday and he is taking blessings from the Sangh chief. Arjun Meghwal himself reportedly came with an agenda. He wanted Mohan Bhagwat to ask BJP president JP Nadda to expel former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia for alleged anti-party activities and declare Arjun Meghwal as the chief ministerial candidate in the next elections to the Rajasthan Assembly elections. President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Chief Justice NV Ramana also graced the wedding reception of Vice President Venkaiah Naidu’s granddaughter. This reception was held and hosted at the residence of the Vice President by Naidu and his wife Usha Naidu on the occasion of the marriage of their granddaughter Niharika.

Niharika’s marriage has recently held with Raviteja. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, apart from the Union ministers, MPs, and government officials also attended the ceremony. The guests who arrived at the ceremony blessed the bride and groom. For the unversed, Niharika is the daughter of Harshvardhan Mupawarapu, son of Vice President Venkaiah Naidu.

It is worth mentioning that at this time the political mercury of the UP assembly elections is at an all-time high. In comparison to the ruling BJP in UP, the son of SP chief and former Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav is taking an aggressive stand after the recent raids at the houses of close relatives and followers of the SP leader. The war of words between the two sides has intensified with Akhilesh saying that the Income Tax department has joined the Assembly polls. At the same time, PM Modi is also visiting UP continuously to enact saffron dramas and does not miss a chance to target SP. Meanwhile, more tax payers money was wasted on Narendra Modi’s extensive wardrobe during his Varanasi drama.
