WPI Condemns Attack on AAP Office by Hindu Raksha Dal Personnel

BeyondHeadlines News Desk

For the first time after their stunning victory in Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party has come under severe attack from mainstream parties for Prashant Bhushan’s statement on Kashmir. Some miscreants from Hindu Raksha Dal even vandalized their head office at Kaushambi in Ghaziabad on 08 January.

Welfare Party of India (WPI) has strongly condemned the attack on AAP office and the misbehavior with women present there by a right-wing group, with links to Sangh Parivar.

Hooligans reacted violently to a statement made by Prashant Bhushan, a senior lawyer of the Supreme Court, regarding his suggestion for a referendum on the deployment of Army in Jammu and Kashmir.

WPI General Secretary Dr. S.Q.R. Ilyas said that was an irony that the same group had physically attacked Bhushan in his Supreme Court Chamber in 2011 for his remarks on Kashmir.

“Had our administration and political leadership taken a judicious action and prompt stand against the Hindu Raksha Dal and its leader Pinky Chaudhary, this kind of vandalism would not have repeated,” observed Dr. Ilyas.

“Mr. Bhushan didn’t make any adverse reference regarding the status of the state of Jammu and Kashmir in his remarks. He suggested for a referendum from the people of the state for the prolonged deployment of the army under the controversial AFSPA.

“It is a fact admitted by many that presence of the army with abundant and unquestionable powers, human rights violations by army and police personnel and the draconian AFSPA type acts, wherever in operation, are the main reasons for the alienation of the people. Mr. Bhushan shared and underscored this point.”

Dr. Ilyas also noted that vandalizing due to different views is nothing but fascism and it can’t go hand in hand with democratic values.

“It is sad that the mainstream political parties were not as strong and sharp in their condemnation of the attack on the Aam Admi Party office like their condemnation to the remarks of Parashant Bhushan regarding army deployment and referendum,” Dr. Ilyas added.

“Reluctance of right-wing groups to accommodate plural views and imposition of their opinions by violence should be condemned by all. The government must deal it seriously, book all the culprits and ensure such acts will not occur again.”
