UNICEF in partnership with Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS) is organizing a National Seminar on Securing Childhood: Challenges, Opportunities and Strategies at 3.00 pm on Thursday, 13 – 14 February in XISS auditorium, Purulia Road, Ranchi. The conference provides a forum for academicians, research scholars, government officials, NGOs, development practitioners and professionals from across the country to share experiences and lessons learnt in areas such as child labour, child marriage, child trafficking, birth registration, etc.
Shri S Bhokta, the Speaker of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly will inaugurate the two-day seminar at 3.00 pm and Shrimati Annapurna Devi, Minister of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development will be the Guest of Honour and keynote Speaker at 5.30 pm on 13 February.
Dr. Rajiv Arun Ekka, Principal Secretary, Department of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development; Ms. Roop Laxmi Munda, Chairperson, SCPCR; Ms. Mahua Maji, Chairperson, State Commission for Women; Ms. Nina Nayak, Indian Law Institute; Prof Rajesh Sharan; Mr. P R Chaudhary, Director DES; Justice Marathia (retd); Dr. Fr. Ranjit P Toppo S J, Asst Director, XISS; Mr. Amod Kanth, IPS retd; Mr. S N Pradhan, ADGP CID; Mr. M S Bhatia, IG Ranchi Zone; Ms. Razia Sultan, CEO IACR; Mr. Hareshwar Dayal, Director IHD; Mr. Sajjad Mazid; Mr. Job Zachariah, Chief UNICEF Jharkhand; Ms. Priti Srivastava, Child Protection Officer, UNICEF and Kumar Premchand, PPE Officer, UNICEF will attend the two-day national seminar.
The seminar will come out with suggestions/interventions to eliminate child marriage and child labour; curb child trafficking and improve birth registration in the state.
