As part of Platinum Jubilee Celebrations and 10th Corps Reunion of the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (EME) an ‘EME Nari Shakti’ Motorcycle expedition was scheduled from Bhopal to Secunderabad from 29 November 2018 to 07 December 2018 (via Mhow – Vadodara-Mumbai-Pune-Solapur).
Accordingly, a team of 6 x lady officers of the Corps of EME which were part of the motorcycle expedition reached Pune on 03 December 2018 at 20:00 pm. The bikers rode all the way from Mumbai to Pune and reached the city under the banner of “EME Naari Shakti Motorcycle Expedition”.
On 04 December 2018, interaction of the team with the Vice Chancellor, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Students of University of Pune was organised at the Pune University campus. Approximately 200 young dynamic girl students including NSS cadets attended the event.
During the interaction the team displayed Army’s contribution for Women Empowerment and upliftment and also promoted the national message of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’. They also showcased the Army as a career full of adventure and excitement and also motivated young girl students to Join Indian Army.
The event at the University of Pune concluded with a closing address and thanks giving by Prof Dr Nitin Karmalkar, Vice Chancellor and Dr N S Umrani, Pro- Vice Chancellor of University of Pune.
The women riders, including Lieutenant Colonel Manmeet Kaur, Major R K Nirban, Major Gazelle Sareen, Major Deepthi Bhatt, Lieutenant K U Roji and Lieutenant Priya Kashyap also met and interacted with the veterans and disabled soldiers at Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre (PRC), Kirkee. The team was received by Director PRC and all the veterans/ disabled soldiers of PRC, Kirkee.
The expedition was flagged off from Station Workshop EME, Kirkee on 04 December 2018 by Major General Sanjay Sharma, Major General Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MGEME), Southern Command in presence of enthusiastic NCC lady cadets and other Army Officers.
