Jamia celebrates Independence Day

Extending Independence Day Greetings to students, teachers and staff, Prof. Talat Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia asked them to commit themselves to the growth of the nation.

Addressing a large gathering of students, teachers and staff at the Flag Hoisting Ceremony today in Jamia Millia Islamia’s school premises, Prof. Ahmad felt that teachers have great responsibility to fashion children into knowledgeable and skilled citizens of the country so that they compete with the best in the world and pay back to the society that invests in them.

Prof. Ahmad expressed his happiness over the students’ enthusiasm on the occasion of Independence Day and observed that Jamia Millia Islamia was a unique institution which had both school and university systems existing concomitantly. Jamia Millia Islamia, he opined, had a rich nationalist history and culture that had to be conserved and strengthened. Jamia, he desired, should be in the vanguard of national progress.

The Vice Chancellor was happy to note that over 4000 students were receiving education in the Jamia Schools. He assured them to put in place the best academic standards so that when they graduate from high school to university system they could become recipients of the best academic and research practices. Jamia, he emphasized, would not shy away from serving the community in the neighborhood through expansion of education and skills. He also expressed his desire to set up an Innovation Cell in Jamia School to encourage students to put their natural and acquired skills to innovate products that could be used for the betterment of the society.

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor hoisted the national flag and took the guard of honour from the Jamia wing of the National Cadet Corps. He was welcomed by the Principal, staff and students.
