RTI activist Subhash Chandra Agrawal is now a ‘Giraffe Hero’

New Delhi: Noted RTI activist Subhash Chandra Agrawal has been conferred the honour of ‘Giraffe Hero’ by a US-based voluntary association set-up by a former US-diplomat and citizen activist.

The Giraffe Heroes Project is a non-profit group which honours the “risk-takers, people who are largely unknown, people who have the courage to stick their necks out for the common good”, in the US and around the world, the web site of the project says.

In a message to Agrawal, the group said,”Your brave but self-less acts of utilising the RTI Act, for public good and sticking your neck out despite innumerable challenges has made/is making, we feel a significant impact on the governance of our various organisations.”

The award will be conferred to Agrawal on January 22 in a public function at the School of Inspired Leadership in Gurgaon.

65-year old Agrawal holds Guinness record of filing highest number of published letters to the editors besides his RTI applications have delivered some important orders like declaration of assets by Supreme Court judges, bringing Political parties under the RTI act among others.
