Three day International Faculty Development Program on Public Health Communication at Jamia

New Delhi: Department of Social Work, Jamia Millia Islamia is organizing a three day Faculty Development Program from 14th-16th January, 2019 on Public Health Communication in collaboration with Division of Environment Health Sciences, School of Public Health, University of Minnesota, USA and Department of Social Work, School of Social Sciences and Humanities Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur.  

Communication is integral to the effective public health response to the continuing threat posed by communicable and non-communicable diseases in all parts of the world.

The objective of the program is to train public health practitioners, programme managers and policymakers about the strengths, weaknesses and costs of health communication interventions aimed at the prevention and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases. This program will enhance the opportunities for strengthening evidence-informed action. 

The programme shall empower the young and mid-career professionals to enhance their knowledge about health communication and its importance in the domain of public health.

Professionals from varied backgrounds are attending this program. The program is being attended by 60 participants coming from national and international organizations. The program has a strong focus on Communication in Healthcare, Innovative ways of evaluating the impact of public health communications, Interventions to address health communication, Health & Health Information Technology and Health Communication in Communicable Diseases.

The program will be conducted by renowned experts: Elizabeth Wattenberg, Pat McGovern and Sarah Moon from Division of Environmental Health Sciences, School of Public Health, the University of Minnesota besides Senior Faculty members from the Department of Social Work, JMI associated with the Indo-US Project.
