Pune: The teachers and the students of Army Institute of Technology brimmed with joy and exuberance as they celebrated the Silver Jubilee of the college which entered its the 25th year as an Center for excellence in higher education.
This auspicious ceremony was graced by the presence of the Patron in Chief of the College & GOC- in- C Southern Command Lt. Gen Saini, AVSM, YSM, VSM, who was the Chief Guest and many other senior defense officers and veterans. The chief guest and other dignitaries were welcomed by Brig, Abhay Bhat, Director AIT who also gave an overview of the foundation and its journey since inception.
The Chief of Army Staff trophy for COAS All Round Student Rolling Trophy and GOC- in- C Southern Command rolling trophy for best girl student in academics was presented by the chief guest to Ms. Tutu Kumari and Ms. Swagatika Sahu respectively.
Like every year AIT honored leading industry professionals for their contribution to the society. MS Unnikrishnan, MD and CEO of Thermax group of Industries was felicitated by Life Time achievement award while Mr. B Satheesh Chandrasekhar, Co-founder of Ideavate Solutions, Indore, and an alumnus of 1999 batch of AIT awarded the “successful entrepreneur award” during this function.
Former Directors, Principals and Joint Directors were also felicitated for their contribution to the success of AIT. Senior military officers, industry partners of AIT, alumni, famous academic personalities, staff and students of AIT were part of the celebration.
On the occasion, Lt. Gen Saini, GOC-in-C, Southern Command in his speech, underlined the significance of AIT and said, “It’s a matter of great pride and honor. AIT has emerged as one of the leading institute in the country. I would like to thank all the current and previous directors, staff and students for making the institute center of excellence.”
Charting a roadmap for the future of the institute, he said, “The institute now needs to take the next step forward and should be recognized as pioneer in technology and holistic education. The institute needs to adapt to new changes and be open to restructure courses to provide the best possible education to students in today’s dynamic and ever-changing landscape of technology.”
Army Institute of technology, Pune was set up as part of vision of Late Gen B C Joshi, PVSM AVSM, ADC (1935-1994), the then COAS, who saw the need of an engineering college for children of army personnel. It was formally inaugurated on 24th February by Gen S. Roy Chaudhary PVSM, ADC. Its 24 years since then, that the institute has evolved into one of the topmost colleges in Pune and 88th ranked in India. The institute focuses on all round development of students.
