MIM MLA Imtiaz Jaleel Declares War on Drug Peddlers and Illegal Liquor Shops in Aurangabad

MIM warns Aurangabad police that the party would remove all liquor shops which are in the close vicinity of schools/colleges and religious places including mandir, masjid or churches.

Aurangabad: A delegation of MIM corporators led by the party MLA Imtiyaz Jaleel met the commissioner of police Amitesh Kumar demanding strict action against drug peddlers. The party leaders also informed the police chief that they would resort to all legal means to close down all liquor shops in the city.

The meeting was organised in view of growing complaints that drugs namely charas ganja was rampantly being used by youngsters and police have not been doing enough to crackdown on drug peddlers. MIM leaders also brought to the notice of the police that some medical stores were illegally selling some drugs without prescription and at exorbitant rates to youngsters who are getting addicted to it.

The corporators also informed that there were number of areas in the city where drugs are being sold without any fear of the police. Some corporators even informed about the places where these illegal activities are taking place and urged the police to increase vigil in those areas.

Imtiyaz Jaleel informed the commissioner that his party would remove all liquor shops which are in the close vicinity of schools/colleges and religious places including mandir, masjid or churches. He said that they would take legal option available as per law in the state excise department and close down all liquor shops in the city. He said that such shops are a e menace to the society and a root cause of many a crimes in the city.

The party would start their campaign with a country liquor shop that is running in a building which also houses a school and a college in Shahgunj area. He also appealed the police to close down the country liquor shop just outside the college run by Gangadhar Gade in Eknathnagar Osmanpura area.

Taking the police inspectors, detection branch and crime branch staff to task  Amitesh Kumar said that he would be forced to take action against his own staff if the drug peddlers are not brought to book. He ordered the police teams to crack down in a big way on all the peddlers and make strong cases against them. He appealed the corporators and the general public to call him directly with concrete information about places were these drug businesses are flourishing.
