    Afroz Alam Sahil, BeyondHeadlines

New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia has shown significant improvement in the recently released Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) India University Rankings 2020 which has ranked the university at 21 positions, improving its ranking at 28 in 2019.

As per the QS India Rankings 2020 the JMI has an overall score of 43.3, academic reputation (30.9), employer reputation (36.1), faculty-student (45.9), international faculty (24.7), international students (24.7), faculty staff with PhD (85.8), papers per Faculty (34.2) and Citations per Paper (75.9).

All higher academic institutions including IITs were included in the QS India Rankings 2020.

Earlier, JMI was among the very few academic institutions from India which had improved its position in London-based  Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2020 released in September 2019. From 801-1000 JMI was placed at 601-800 in the rankings.  After the first 200 ranks, THE rankings put institutes into rank groups rather than individual ranks.

It is worth mentioning that JMI retained its position in the coveted QS World University Ranking at 751-800 with its research intensity been described as ‘very high’. The ranking was released last June.

JMI was ranked at 12th position in the country by MHRD’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF-2019), retaining its earlier position.

The university also improved its ranking in the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings-2019 and Moscow-based Round University Rankings (RUR) 2019.

Outlook-ICARE India University Rankings 2019 has placed the university at 3rd position among the top 25 Central Universities and at 17th rank among top 100 universities in India last July.
