Islamic awakening in Middle East is remarkably great: Supreme Leader

Tehran, March 3, IRNA — Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Thursday termed the Islamic awakening in the Middle East and North Africa as remarkably great, while noting that the developments will influence the world’s political outlook.

Supreme Leader made the remark during a visit to an exhibition showcasing the achievements and services of information ministry in Tehran.

Ayatollah Khamenei urged the officials at the information ministry to meticulously follow up the political developments of the Middle East and North Africa.

‘The Islamic awakening in the region has been inspired by Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution and it is the outcome of Iranian nation’s resistance. The arrogant powers (imperialists) being led by the US are fully aware of the fact that Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution is the main model for the popular uprisings in the region. Hence, they are trying to portray the same model as something unsuccessful and doomed,’ the Leader said addressing the officials at the information ministry.

‘The main duty of the information ministry is to prepare long-term projects,’ he added.

The leader also met with directors, experts and officials of the information ministry during his nearly six-hour visit to information ministry.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the information ministry has rendered valuable services in view of the relentless efforts of its pious and committed personnel.

‘The information ministry has now turned into a huge base for information soft war in the world today,’ the Leader added.

The Supreme Leader enumerated the distinct advantages of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s information apparatus its domestic nature and as not being modeled on the information apparatuses of other countries.

The Leader thanked the Information Minister Heydar Moslehi and the ministry’s officials for their great achievements.
