Prince Willam, Kate Hold Wedding Ceremony in Westminster Abbey

LONDON, April 29 (Xinhua) — British Prince William and Kate Middleton on Friday held their wedding ceremony at Westminster Abbey in central London.

William, in Irish Guards uniform, and his bride, Kate, in an ivory and lace gown designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen, exchanged vows before The Archbishop of Canterbury, compere of the historic wedding ceremony.

The ceremony, starting at 11 a.m. local time (1000 GMT), lasted for around 70 minutes. Some 1,900 guests were invited into the Abbey to witness the ceremony and another 2 billion worldwide are expected to watch it live on TV.

The newlyweds then left the Abbey in an open-topped carriage under protection of the Royal Horse Guards for Buckingham Palace after the ceremony finished, with tens of thousands of crowds lining along the procession route and cheering for the fabulous wedding of the British royal family.
