Govt Reportedly Makes Attempt to Convince Anna to Leave Tihar Jail

New Delhi: The government is reportedly trying its best to convince Anna Hazare to leave Tihar Jail following the refusal of the Gandhian to step out from the high profile prison till the government agrees to an unconditional release and gives permission to launch his anti-corruption fast at Jai Prakash Narain Park.

According to Times Now news channel, the government is trying to reach a consensus with Anna on his proposed fast by now planning to open back channel talks with the Team Anna. Swami Agnivesh is likely to hold talks with the team.

Meanwhile, the Congress party core group met on Wednesday morning and the prime minister may make a statement in Parliament today.

According to sources, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday evening met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and discussed the situation arising out of the arrest of social activist Anna Hazare. .

According to Congress sources, Hazare, set to be released from Tihar Jail, was being freed after Gandhi’s intervention.

Gandhi, according to the sources, urged the prime minister to allow the situation to be defused.
