‘Lazy Delhiites don’t care even if country falls apart’: Zee News anchor Sudhir Chaudhary reacts after Exit Polls

Debby Rai, BeyondHeadlines

New Delhi: Zee News anchor Sudhir Chaudhary is yet in news again as he lashed out at the people of Delhi by tagging them as lazy, least bothered about their country, hungry for freebies and those who enjoy discussing politics only over drinks.

It was after the exit polls pointing at the clear victory of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi elections 2020 that the anchor humiliated Delhiites on his prime time show ‘DNA’ aired on Zee News. He criticised the voters of Delhi for not being concerned about the Ram temple in Ayodhya, revocation of Article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir or Balakot airstrikes. He further went personal and insulted the people of Delhi by saying that they are least bothered if the country falls apart.

He added that the people of Delhi are so lazy that they can only give their opinions on social media. He went on to say that Delhi people are so lazy that if given an option, they would prefer to cast even their vote via social media.

Netizens lashed out at Chaudhary for his insensitive comments

The insensitive and humiliating remarks made by the journalist didn’t go well with the netizens as they lashed out at him. Some called him shameless/hypocrite, while the others termed him as a blot on journalism.

Unbelievable! What this man has said. How does this qualify as Journalism. No accountability. All the more reason fo cut the cord and stop watching television news

From the desk of BeyondHeadlines

We strongly condemn the disrespectful comments made by Sudhir Chaudhary that did not only hurt the sentiments of the people of Delhi but also questioned their freedom and right to exercise their vote of their choice.

The journalist at the same time has raised questions over the credibility of the profession by passing subjective and biased remarks at a time when the standards of media are already been questioned in the country.
