Bihar Elections & Party Politics

The Election Commission of India has announced the dates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly election. The politics of Bihar has been an interesting area of study especially post 1990s politics. The changing dynamics of party politics in Bihar is clearly seen in that particular period. The decline of the single-party dominance of the Indian National Congress (INC) gave birth to coalition arrangements of political parties and the emergence of regional parties. In this political development couple of regional parties founded which were also splitter of Janta Dal. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Janata Dal (U) are important parties and also took equally political charge in Bihar. Lalu Yadav established himself in Bihar politics as a crusader of social justice and Nitish Kumar as an ambassador of development and good governance.

In the current assembly election, there are other political parties are in the battlefield and trying to manipulate voters on different grounds. The AIMIM is one of the important political party which is trying hard to get support in Muslim majority constituencies in Seemanchal region of Bihar where already opened an account on Kishanganj assembly constituency in the by-election.
