Is Narendra Modi Mulling Getting Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Elections Postponed to Save Losing BJP?

The losing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seems to be mulling to get the elections to Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly postponed. The BJP leaders Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, and Adityanath want to take refuge in the fact that the Allahabad High Court has requested the Election Commission (EC) to postpone the elections due to the Covid-19 situation – the Omicron variant. Nothing is going in favour of the BJP. The masses are angry with rising inflation, unemployment, mishandling of Covid-19 situation, not getting compensation for Covid-19 related deaths, crumbling law, and order in the state, Narendra Modi’s Minister Ajay Mishra’s spoilt brat son Ashish Mishra’s alleged reign of farmers’ murders, and last but not the least farmers’ lingering anger about the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and the false cases foisted against the farmers.

The resurgence of the Samajwadi Party (SP) is scaring Narendra Modi that Akhilesh Yadav may walk away with the honours if elections are held now. The game plan to conduct an alleged ‘Genocide of Muslims’ in the aftermath of hate-mongering conclaves by Hindutva extremists in Delhi and Haridwar has come a cropper. The BJP leadership is very discouraged at the developments. They see no hope of polarizing the electorate as of now. The falling graph of the BJP is being clearly shown in surveys even by some of the Godi-Modi media. The imminent rout in the elections will result in a loss of face internationally. Narendra Modi fears the day Adityanath will challenge and backstab him as he did it to Advani. There are no permanent friends in politics. The rats will abandon the sinking saffron ship as they hanker for power. There is no ideology but only Godseism to survive on for them. It is not a very viable option.

The BJP leaders Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, and Adityanath are losing sleep over the expected mauling and loss of BJP in the elections. The pied piper Narendra Modi is notorious for retreating and running away as in the case of repeal of the farmers’ laws! It would be interesting to watch the decision of the EC about the elections, which is considered very obedient to the BJP as far as even the dates and number of phases of polls are concerned. Will Omicron come to bite the BJP?
